Cybersecurity, personal data and anti-surveillance

Rapid technological advances have significantly affected and expanded the power and control that states and companies wield over individuals, with direct implications for privacy. As part of this project, we conduct research, write opinion pieces, produce legal analyses and advocate on the importance of data protection and security, as well as individual privacy in various contexts: technology-enabled digital violence, the platform economy, communications surveillance, etc.

Disinformation

This is understood as false, inaccurate or misleading information intentionally disseminated to cause public harm or generate revenue. This approach recognises disinformation as a potentially harmful form of expression, but one that does not necessarily fall within the categories of illegal speech already defined, such as defamation, incitement to hatred or violence. Find out more about why we do not use the terms ‘fake news’ or ‘information integrity’.

National and International Advocacy

We understand that today’s challenges are global and have a direct impact on the local context, which is why we develop and document our advocacy efforts at both the national and international levels.
